BRUNO MAJOR ON OUR OWN

Well, here we all are, at the end of our journey with British songwriter Bruno Major, who has been releasing one song every month for the past year, much to our delight. ‘On Our Own’ concludes an epic project of self-imposed deadlines, internal explorations and plenty of studio time to gradually form the stunning collection, A New Song For Every Moon. Its finale, ‘On Our Own’, is a heartbreaking trip of that classic combination of voice and piano. This simple combination has an inherent richness, and Major’s unquestionably sincere lyrics sound more like he’s singing to reassure himself, rather than entertain a crowd. The closing chorus is a surging commitment to hope and a resignation to loneliness in one sweeping, double-edged sword moment - “‘Cause I know the world is a beautiful place, too full of life to be alone, / I know the world is a beautiful place, but we’re on our own.” The potent feeling of this track comes from a conversation that Bruno Major has with his mother following the death of his grandmother, as the London-based artist reveals: “I wrote this after a conversation with my mother when my Granny died. Her death sparked a personal journey through Agnosticism, Atheism and through the other side, and writing On Our Own helped me understand how I felt about existence and religion. I think this is the song that I am most proud of.” To celebrate the completion of A New Song For Every Moon, Major has announced a string of live dates in Brooklyn, LA, Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris and concluding at London’s Omeara on the 15th of November.
